DK Lore Question: How Do They Quit?

Death Knights are an interesting idea.

Death Knights simply quitting the Lich King and joining the Horde or alliance is very lame. How will it be explained? Is the Lich King's hold on his elite troops so weak that they can stroll out the front gate without any pursuit or punishment?

If anything, DKs should start in the service of the LK and have the initial quests follow the escape and journey to Horde or alliance lands.

That would allow for some nice diversity. A human DK can join the horde while an undead DK join the alliance.

Just something to think about.

We have tossed around a lot of ideas on Death Knights and are still working on finalizing how they start out and pretty much everything else about them. We will elaborate on this and many other things that we are working on as we get closer to launching Wrath of the Lich King.

Oh and...

Q u o t e:
I just hope they make "Heroic class" actually HEROIC(aka uber) in appearance and ability, they should own other class without breaking a sweat ( yes, even warlock) because DK suppose to be the elite champion of the lichking not some day to day weaksauce from a little town.

No.

Er, seriously? In terms of balance and such, heroic classes are just going to be... non-heroic?

Death Knights are intended to provide a unique game play experience but we don't want them to be more powerful than all of the current classes as that would force everybody to play one and that doesn't sound like a fun game design.

But that's contradictory; every class is a unique game experience, and the argument that it would force everyone to play a DK is one that lacks a great deal of imaginative input.

You missed the part in my last post where I brought up the point of how making them more powerful than everybody else would force people to play them as they would have to just to compete.

While a lot of the other ideas you mentioned might be fun in theory, they would also severely limit peoples' play experience which is something we don't want to do.

I stand by my previous statements as from a design perspective, we want to make things fun and fresh for the people trying this new class but at the same time, no class should be guaranteed to be better than all the rest.

Now lets get the thread back on topic please so I don't have to lock it. Thanks!
