So I've leveled to 81.5 solely in Vashj'ir and have reached what I am assuming is the epic comclusion to the zone in the quest "Defending the Rift".

I have gone through the motions of the quest multiples times now and every time the event bugs, and cannot be completed.

#1 shows that although I have completed the quest I am still prompted to start the quest. The NPC that I am supposed to be turning the quest into is gone. I abandon the quest and restart it. Also shows how buggy The Verne is, and a strange 2 minute pause in the NPC conversation.

#2 shows me in the process of completing the quest. Only issue here is one of the cinematics that I assume is not finished yet. Can skip if you wish.

#3 Shows the completion of the quests, a couple of bugs here and there.

Now the real issue lies in the fact that Nazgrim, the gentleman that you are supposed to turn this quest into disappears without ever letting you complete the quest. He disappears, and the event restarts, and the same thing happens again.

I suppose my question is has anyone been able to complete this? Or are all the issues with the quest intentional as it is not supposed to be completable?

If you've reported it as a bug in-game, the unfortunate answer might be that you have to wait a while, for further patches, before you can complete this quest.

Finally finished it! I think the issues I was experiencing may have been due to a quest starting item I picked up while in Log'rek and never used. Perhaps it caused some issues taking me to the next phase of Vashj'ir?

Well whatever the case, I'm glad that you were able to complete the quest. Sometimes the key is simply persistence, but it can be hard at times to know whether this will be beneficial.
