hey all, i know this isnt really wow related, but soo many ppl come to these forums (way more then any of those single site computer tech forums) and the ppl here are just as smart. with that being said, just stop reading if u dont wish to help :D.
here are the specs
amd athlon64 3000 1gig ddr400 geforce 6800 some kind of asus MB 420w power supply
anyway heres the story
my computer worked fine last night (after returning from a lan at a friends house) with the exception of one thing. about 10mins after i hooked everyhting up i got the little error in the bottom right sayin "local area connection unplugged". i went and checked the connections and everything was in. (even the light on the ethernet card was on) i was a bit confused and just restarted the computer (ive found it fixes most problems lol) sure enough, the error went away and i used the computer for another hr or 2 before going to bed.... no problems.
i woke up this morning and turned the comp on... well tried to lol. i pressed the botton and the computer made its usual start up noises... for about 1 sec before "dieing". the CPU fan would turn for about 1 sec (powerd) then slow to a stop. same with the videocard fan. (pretty much it seemed like the computer was gettin power for 1 sec at most) everytime i pressed the power bottom the same thing would happen. at the time my actual COMPUTER speaker was not plugged in. i did this and about 90% of the time i would press the bottom, about 5 secs after it died i would get 4 beeps. 1 beep, pause, then 3 consecutive beeps. o and the motherboard light is ON when the power to the powersuply is on.
ive tried takin EVERY card out and just running the computer on the bare min and each time the same thing would happen. (in other words, it didnt matter wat or wat wasnt plugged in, the computer did the same thing.) did this with the ram aswell, same result. I even changed the power supply and here is the only thing that made a DIFFERENCE. (still wont turn on) i found an older power supply, just a 250w or somthing ghetto like that. just plugged it in to the motherboard and the computer would turn on for... 10 secs before doin relativly the same thing, (the beeps wer there, but a different pattern ??? lol)
ebcause i had just moved my computer from location to location, i thought somthing might have been knocked loose, but i could see anything, i even ripped the front of my computer off (to see the cables that connect that power button) and everything there looks ok (i dont know wat im lookin for there but there wer no ripped, or broken wires lol)
anyway if u guys have any ideas it would be helpful thx! |
