Can enter game world, then disconnected.
by Kanith | 17/03/2010 02:59:02![]() My hopes for this being resolved are low, but it's worth a shot... While at home I can connect and play with nary an issue (except for our friend the memory assertion), and I have successfully exited WoW creating a healthy cache. However, when I am at school I am able to login, see the character list and login to my character, almost immediately after entering the game world (sometimes before, the loading screen finishes but the screen never disappears), I am disconnected. Everyone is frozen in place and I am unable to cast any spells, it takes several minutes before the "You have been disconnected" notice appears and I am kicked back to the login screen. If I boot into Windows, I can play TeamFortress 2 just fine, I guess next time I'm home I'll download the installer and try it out in windows. I have a trace route from the campus:
I also have a wireshark log if needed. |

So you are using a wireless connection at school. Do you know anyone else that plays WoW and are able to use the wireless connection at school ? Also do you have a separate setting for your connection at home and the connection at school ? [ Post edited by Radoslawn ] HAPPY 21 !!! New Year predictions for Blizzard... by Radoslawn | 17/03/2010 16:27:09![]() Hello Kanith, The 802.11g would be more stable so you should be getting a good connection at school, so we need to look at your system more closely then. Do you use any security programs on your Mac ? Basically I'm trying to find out what, on your system, could be interfering with the connection. Some 3rd party AddOn management programs install PeerGuardian. Also do you use LittleSnitch or any packet sniffing programs ? HAPPY 21 !!! New Year predictions for Blizzard... by Radoslawn | 17/03/2010 18:58:51![]() Hello Kanith, Good catch with the hard drive directory corruption, that would have been something I would have recommended a few posts down the road, so I'm glad you took the step. Try booting to the Mac OS install disk and repairing the hard drive using the Disk Utility program, unless you have DiskWarrior, which is something I always used for clients when these type of issues came up. It's just more powerful as a utility from my experience. But let us know what you find out, and even if the repair says it fixed things, run it a second time, to make sure there aren't any other corruptions that need to be fixed. Plus as a sign that the utility actually did fix things, what cay I say, I don't trust repair utilities, they lie. HAPPY 21 !!! New Year predictions for Blizzard...
