Sound Changes in 2.2

With the 2.2 patch there are considerable changes being introduced to the WoW audio systems. Although the systems were tested thoroughly on the PTR there are still some reports of problems now that the patch has gone live.

Before reporting a bug please make sure that you have the latest sound drivers for your OS and hardware, you may need to contact your system manufacturer to get this information.

When reporting a problem with in game sound please provide the following in your reports:

A very thorough description of what was happening when the sound issue occurred.

Contents of the SESOUND.LOG file in your WoW/logs directory.
To obtain the SESOUND.LOG file please follow the instructions below:

1. Immediately after the issue has been encountered log out of WoW.*
2. Open your wow directory (example: c:/Program Files/World of Warcraft )
3. Open the Logs folder.
4. Open SESOUND.LOG file
5. Copy the contents of the log file into your report.
*This file is recreated every time WoW is started so do not re-enter WoW until you have gathered this info.

DxDiag info (for windows users).
To test and obtain the DXDIAG information, please follow the instructions below:

Important Note: Please reboot your system prior to creating the dxdiag and files.

1. Click on Start.
2. Click on Run.
3. Type in DXDIAG and press Enter or click OK, this will open the DirectX diagnostic tool. Run the DirectDraw, Direct3D and DirectSound tests found under the Display and Sound tabs before creating the dxdiag.txt file.
4. Click on the Save All Information Button (save this file to your windows desktop and name it dxdiag).
