Assertions and Builds

Assertions and crash reports are like votes. Hitting "Send To Blizzard" casts a vote for a certain bug to be fixed. If you have to hit "Send to Blizzard" a lot because you hit a certain bug a lot... think of it as a bit of good fortune that you were allowed to vote more than once in the great bug fix election of beta.

All those crash reports pile up here on our server and get fingerprinted so we can bin them into piles, each pile representing a unique type of bug. There's one pile right now that is pretty tall and we think that bug is fixed for the next beta release (M2DataInit.inl line 324).

New beta builds are like campaign tour buses, they take a while to get all the way through our internal process and arrive in your home town. They only leave every so often.

In some cases bugs are spotted and fixed and then the new code has to sit patiently on the bus waiting for all the other bug fixes to get on (and sometimes a bug fix is unruly and has to be asked to get off the bus until it is ready to behave... the bus sits still for a while as the bus driver and the bug fix have a heated conversation in the parking lot). I think I hear a bus engine revving up now, so keep your eyes peeled for the next arrival.

And keep voting with that Send-to-Blizzard button please!
