Another Account Hacked/Authenticator Thread
by Dazzma | 19/05/2010 13:20:30![]() My account has been hacked. ALL of my characters are gone from all my main realms. I've lost everything. I don't even think they transferred any of my characters. Just deleted them. I can't submit an in game ticket due to an Authenticator issue. I'm working on securing my computer as we speak. Any help would be fantastic. There is ALOT of stuff missing. Edit: I've also been banned for 3 hours due to chat spamming 3rd party advertisements. That should stop them for a little while I suppose. [ Post edited by Dazzma ] |

This account? If this one - that's not on there any longer, looks like they removed it themselves - however....it is under a temporary suspension due to the activities they were indulging in with the account while they had control. Looks like a password reset has already been sent, you may wish to check your email to see if that has arrived. Customer Service Forum Representative Authenticators! I'd go over this sticky quite carefully. Computer Security Recommendations _____Computer Security Recommendations Remember when you scan - update your scanner immediately prior to running, and I also recommend having the launcher up with a bit of gibberish in the fields. Malware isn't the only way this happens, social engineering and phishes run a close second, but it's something you need to be just as sure as you can about. by Orlyia | 20/05/2010 13:17:31![]() We try to restore a player as much as possible - although restorations can never be guaranteed. It's important to follow steps in order, secure - report - etc. Malware isn't the only way they can get your information, but it's quite common. Social engineering is also prevalent through fake ingame tells, email phishes. Reusing the same pass/ID combo ANYWHERE else - especially websites is dangerous. I recommend everyone use an authenticator, it's another layer of security. No reason to bump this, Dazzma. Did you look over the security stickies and start following the outlined steps? Customer Service Forum Representative Authenticators! Take a bite (or two) out of crime! http://us.battle.net/security/ |

Security can be the most daunting part of this, especially if you've no clues where the intrusion may have come from. An authenticator is a great step and will likely keep you safe - but if you have unidentified malware lurking somewhere - WoW information isn't all these thieves will steal if given an opportunity.
