AI Musings
| by Tseric | 12/01/2007 15:51:44 They don't call 'em 'cell phones' for nothing. They are the protozoic incarnation of silicon based life-forms. The current, technological thrust of civilization is providing a ripe breeding ground for the replication of these little organisms, which feed on energy and electrical impulse in not too dissimilar ways than our own neural groundings. Chemical and electrical interaction are an elemental basis of defining the purpose and function of both ourselves and these innocuous, yet ubiquitous, tools. We work in a symbiotic relationship; with us playing the part of the 'host', along with the background environment of the tech industry. In so many symbiotic relationships before, humanity has asserted itself as dominant partner and usually reaped most, if not all, of the benefits. Payment due is considered credit in these interactions. However, with increasing industry, development and technology, we come to find ourselves more and more beholden to our tools. We apply machines to make calculations and scribe and datamine and archive all of these complex systems we have built around ourselves. At the same time, we continue to develop the tools which manage these complex systems. The complex systems begin to monitor the complex systems in ever increasingly competent ways. Generations pass and we continue to integrate and iterate these machines into our society. I have seen dreams of yet born machines. Buy the ticket, take the ride. |
