Achievement Tracking active on live, now?
by Fip | 20/07/2008 17:43:27 So I copied another version of my character over since this one is locked from Alpha and I wanted to see what achievements I had unlocked already. I understand why and how my quest achievements and zone exploration achievements are all unlocked already. I also understand why my boss kills from BC and pre-BC have not been tracked, simply because the system was not implemented yet. My question is this: since Blizzard knows that the achievement system will be in place in the expansion, are there any plans to activate some of the tracking now? ie: my guild is working on killing Kil'Jaeden currently, and even in the expansion he will be a tough boss to come back and kill. It would be really awesome if instead of having to come BACK and kill him, there could maybe be some sort of logging activated on the back side of the game now on live so that going forward, like from this Tuesday onwards our activity is actually tracked towards achievements, or maybe at least with the really really big ones (namely boss kills). Thoughts? I realize that I may come across as a whiny elitist raider, but I think this applies to anyone who raids. In fact, if you're in a guild in say SSC/TK it may be much harder for you to find people to help you kill those bosses post-LK. [ Post edited by Fip ] |

There are significant changes to the underlying architecture of how data is stored and tracked that needs comprehensive testing. The first round of that testing was the Alpha test. The second round is now the Beta test. It wouldn't be responsible of us to put those systems in place on the live servers without a certain degree of confidence that we were not hurting the service. I know how badly people want their past accomplishments recognized. We'll do our best to make whatever categories retroactive that we can. |
