6% vs. 10% spellpower in Cata
by Philondra | 06/09/2010 09:57:44![]() I was looking at Cataclysm talent trees, third party websites, and various comments on different forums to try to get a sense of what classes/specs bring which buffs/debuffs, and one issue in particular stands out to me: the 10% spellpower buff is only provided by two specs (Elemental Shaman and Demonology Warlocks), with a lesser, non-stackable version (6% spellpower) provided by all shaman and all mages. I have a couple concerns about these buffs: 1. Does having a greater and lesser version of a particular buff class make sense given the buff homogenization that is taking place? 2. The 10% spellpower buff is only provided by two specs. I am concerned that the buff is not readily available, particularly in 10-man raid groups. A 4% spellpower difference is large enough to be noticeable, particularly in group content. Are there any plans to address this discrepancy, either by removing the 10% version or making it more available to other specs? It feels very awkward that one buff class still contains a lesser version when all other buff types have had their magnitude normalized.. |
by Ghostcrawler | 07/09/2010 00:24:39![]() The 10% spell power isn't offered by a ton of specs (nor are there any other specs that we want to add it to), but the buff makes a really big difference to casters. The 6% buff is there so we could make sure you weren't totally without any kind of buff if you lacked one of the 10% guys. Ghostcrawler Lead Systems Designer |
