WotLK Lore Related Changes [Updated 4/10]

THIS THREAD CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS FROM THE WRATH OF THE LICH KING EXPANSION PACK. 1.1 There will be a large event before the release off the expansion, expedition parties from both the Horde and the Alliance will be sent out soon, (Without In-Game Notice), then we will have some sort of event where Arthas attempts to push the Horde and Alliance back, giving him an option to attempts to invade Azeroth. (Which we had before, remember the Scourge Invasion? That was sweet.) 1.2 Garrosh Hellscream, (Son of Grom Hellscream) will be the leader of the Horde in Northrend. 1.3 Lady Sylvanas will make a plague of there own, which she hopes to destroy all the scourge, Arthas, and his minions. This will be a major quest story, and with large importance. 1.4 Brann Bronzebeard will be a major character in the WotLK, he will "probably" lead the dwarves there. 1.5. Highlord Bolvar Fordragon will be moved OUT of Stormwind to the Northrend. 1.6. Tirion Fordring and the Silver Hand. (Yes, the now reformed Silver Hand) will be "unleashed" in Northrend, there will probably be involvement of the Ashbringer. 1.7. The Dwarves, will continue the search for the answer to life (No, don't even dare saying it.) on Azeroth. Titans, Ancients, Most off the unanswered questions about this storyline will be answered in Northrend. 1.8. Arthas will be the main villain of the Expansion, I'm sure all of you know his story, if not, go play WCIII. 1.9. Player Interaction with Arthas will be in the expansion. Blizzard wants to divide the expansion in "Act's" during these Act's you will see visions of Arthas laughing, tempting you to the "Dark Side", as will you see projections of him during quests or Dungeon's. 1.10. Frostmourne, Blizzard wants this to be a world changing dynamic item, they've shown a picture of the stats, which are very high. (Probably a joke.) But, the EQUIP: says: The wielder of Frostmourne will be the new Lich King.(Joke? Probably. Who knows. They are saying: "What if.. the player is a gnome? We will have a Gnome Lich King. No. Just no. Or, the lich kings new name would be "Private Iownusohard." Again, NO. ) 1.11. Titans, and the dragon aspects. They want to do something with Uldum, but will definatly be adding Ulduar. (Uldaman, but then not broken, and fully "healthy".) 1.12. Malygos and the war against magic. "This world must be purified!" Malygos is getting healthy by the (Mis)Use of the Netherdrake magic. (There will be a new manga novel announced about this.) 1.13. Dalaran is to move from its previous location in the Alterac Mountains to levitate at great height in the air north of the Dragonblight in Northrend. It will act as the neutral sanctuary city for the continent, similar to Shattrath City in Outland. The Kirin Tor of Dalaran are those responsible for the move, but the exact method is unknown -( Lol, Bubblehearth ) it is likely to be either by teleportation or transportation. It can be accessed by either foot or flying mount. There also has been rumors about a instance on the old place of Dalaran in Alterac, as mentioned in WCIII:TFT it has a HUGE underground system, which they are leaving behind, seeing Dalaran will hover above Northrend. There will be some NPC's left in Azeroth to explain what happened.. 1.14. A new In-Game event called Brewfest will be introduced, this will probably happen before the expansion. In the PTR files there are several sound files of Dwarfs/Goblins laughing, joking, and being drunk. There have been several new spells jumping up from the PTR's, Example: Brewfest Riding Ram <LvL 40. 1.15. Deathknight's will be the new (Hero) class in WotLK, they will be probably available for all races, the idea is that you will do a quest with one of your level level 55+ char's, and unlock the DK creation option in the Character Creation Screen, after you made a Deathknight, it will probably start with a pool of spells and some armor, you will start at a certain "high" level, which hasn't been confirmed as of yet. DK's will not have mana/energy/rage, but they will have Runes, which can be "inscribed" in your runesword, some abilities need a combo of runes, after runes have been used, they go on cool down which can be shortened by your talent tree. ___UPDATE ON DEATHKNIGHTS___ Apparently you won't need level 80 after all to get a Death Knight, as this would just create an even more intense rush to 80, and people wouldn't be properly enjoying the content. Instead the required level might be 55–60. Additionally, Tigole said upon reaching the required level, "Then you create your Death Knight and face some challenges. If you have mastered them, you will get your Death Knight." This this maybe means that the unlocking quests will not be done on your main, but on your new DK, and they need to be completed in order to take the new character any farther.Deathknight's will probably take a HERO slot in your character screen. In the center of Westguard Keep (A new Alliance Fortress) is a statue of Muradin Bronzebeard, the younger brother of the King of Ironforge. Warcraft III players may remember Muradin as young Arthas' friend and mentor who was cruelly betrayed by his pupil when the Paladin recovered the runeblade that corrupted him. There also are some dwarfs running around, as they attacked, they scream things like "The truth will drive you mad!" and "You must not believe what it says!" Could they have found out the true origins of the mysterious Iron Dwarves who may know the buried secrets of the dwarves' creation? 1.18 There will be a new Caverns of Time Instance: Old Stratholme Where you can help Arthas fight the undead, before Mal'Ganis reached his number of kills. (If you don't know what I am talking about go play WCIII.) This was said by Tigole on The Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. 1.19 Possible new hero classes that will be added after WotLK are: Demon Hunter, Arch Mage, and Blademaster. 1.20 The art in WotLK is going to be more Warcraft like. (Fantasy.) And not like TBC. (Sci-Fi ish.) 1.21 Sunwell Plateau will be coming in a patch before the WotLK launch. It will include both a 25-main raid and a 5-main instance with both normal and heroic mode. 1.22 WotLK will have "just as much" 5-man instances as TBC and more 10-main instances due to the popularity of Karazhan. 1.23 A new PvP area called Lake Wintergrasp will combine world PvP (non-instanced) with the new siege weapons and destructible buildings. The faction that controls this zone may receive an effect that not only applies to the zone, but to the whole continent 1.24 When asked about class balance, they said they had no plans for any major changes to classes. 1.25 The Inscription profession will do more than increases effectiveness of spells and abilities. Tigole said the team working on it wish for Inscription to be more versatile such as increasing more elements like range, duration (for example: Frost Nova having a wider radius). 1.26 About the increased leveling curve, Tigole explained a bit more : Levels between 20 and 60 are going to have the experience required per-level reduced, and the experience rewarded by quests is being increased by around 30%. 1.27 They talked about Hunters, Blizzard is considering a Woodworking profession (hunters will be able to create their own arrows),and a Mortal Strike-like shot that will reduce healing effectiveness on the target of the shot (the purpose of this idea is to increase the effectiveness of hunters in arena). These are just ideas from the team though, it might not go live. 1.28 Blizzard launched the WotLK forum. http://forums.wow-europe.com/board.html?forumId=1036641&sid=1 1. 29 The Naxxramas Citadel will be hovering to Northrend, to form a new dungeon, there will be no attunement for the new Naxxramas. 1.30 2.3 will contain the increased leveling curve. ---More coming soon--- Yay for Blizz. :) [ Post edited by Marlamin ] |
