My fps used to run above 100 before the patch and now it's gone down to an average of 15 without me doing any changes on my computer.

PC Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2,13 GHZ
2gb 800mhz ddr
Geforce 7950 GX2

Hi,

Could those of you with this issue please post which steps you have taken to try to correct it so far? Our suggestions for steps to try first are:

- Remove WTF, Interface and Cache from the World of Warcraft folder. Add-ons are the usual cause behind these issues.
- Make sure you have the latest graphic card drivers installed
- Make sure you are not running any background programs
- Try playing around a bit with in-game video settings like screen resolution and level of detail. See if anything makes even a slight difference.

Please post your results.

Q u o t e:
Seems like an other copy and paste post by the supoort (; .
Oh well, i tried all the listed things above, still got FPS problems :'|

I don't copy/paste, ever. I write everything from scratch.

Q u o t e:

Most of us never had this problem before 2.1.0 patch. this problem came after this patch. i havent touch anything before/after patch when this problem started. (beside patching)

This is why we are investigating what could cause it. So far there have only been a couple of posts about this on the forum, so we'd like to find out if there are anything in common between those who are experiencing the issue.

Q u o t e:
No offence, but most of us have already done your from scratch tips as we seen em plenty times before.

Yes, most of you may have done that but it doesn't hurt to confirm such a fact.

Hello all,

Since there's so many people on this thread posting with FPS problems, and you probably all have different systems/setups, then I'll try to give some general steps to follow to relieve FPS problems.

You may have done some of these before, but please confirm you've done them all.

Firstly, update the drivers for your Graphics Card. Even if you have done this already, uninstall your current drivers and re-download and install the latest ones.

If you're not sure what Graphics Card you have, please refer to this FAQ article:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=721

And a list of common hardware vendor's websites is here:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=729

The next step is to delete the WTF, Cache and Interface folders found in your World of Warcraft directory. Simply disabling AddOns will not do, as they are still technically active in the background.

You should also make sure that you have the latest drivers installed for your Motherboard. If you're unsure of what motherboard you have, please use a tool such as PC Wizard, available here:
http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php

Please also make sure that there are no background applications interfering with the game. To be absolutely certain of this, please run Windows in a Selective Startup. A guide on doing this is here:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=002

Some other lines you can add or edit to the Config.wtf file are listed here, however I must stress that these will give you a detrimental affect on the way the game looks:

* SET lod "0"
Toggles Terrain Level of Detail (LOD) on “1” and off “0”.

* SET lodDist "100"
Sets the distance at which the Terrain Level of Detail (LOD) change occurs. The average range is 50-100. LodDist only functions when LOD is "1".

* SET doodadAnim “0”
Setting this to "1" will enable environment animations, such as windmills and birds.

* SET mapShadows “0”
Turns display of terrain shadows on “1” or “off”.

* SET shadowLevel "0"
Sets the resolution of the shadow maps on the terrain. “0” is high, “1” is low.

* SET farclip "477.0"
This matches the Farclip slider bar in the Game Options menu. The range is 177 to 777.

* SET pixelShaders "0"
Enabling pixelShaders allows the world to be rendered in less passes, potentially increasing performance on cards that support them.

* SET specular "0"
Specular cannot be used without pixelShaders. This option enables specular highlighting on certain terrain textures, giving a shiny, reflective look to some objects.

You should also try running in OpenGL mode to test:

1. Click Start
2. Highlight Programs
3. Highlight World of Warcraft without clicking on it.
4. Right click on the World of Warcraft icon
5. Click Properties
6. In the Target field add -opengl after the quotation mark
Example: "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe" -opengl
7. Click OK
8. Try the game now with the icon you just modified.

If none of this helps, please email us a copy of your DXDiag and MSInfo so we can investigate further. Guides on how to get these files, along with our webform is here:

Hello again everybody.

I know this has been posted before, but I'd like you to all try it and see if it helps.

Go to your WTF folder and open the config.wtf file with a text editor, such as Wordpad. Then look for a line that say:
SET baseMip "1"

If you don't have it, don't worry, just ignore this. If you do have it, change the 1 to a 0 and save and exit the file. The line should now read as:
SET baseMip "0"

If none of the steps we've suggested have worked, please send us a copy of your DXDiag and MSInfo so we can investigate further. Trust me when I say we're working to find the cause of this problem, but we need to get more information on your systems first. More information = us being able to help you quicker.

An FAQ article on creating DXDiag and MSInfo files is here:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=861

Our Webform is here:
http://www.wow-europe.com/support/webform/techformDefault.html?lan=en

And if you can't use the webform, just email us using this address; WoWTechEU@Blizzard.com

Hello again everyone,

In my last post I asked for copies of your DXDIag and MSInfo files to be sent to us so we can investigate this problem. Unfortunately we've not received many of these.

What we need so we can help find the cause of this problem is:
A copy of your DXDiag file,
A copy of your MSInfo,
The contents of the Logs folder in your World of Warcraft directory.

If you're not sure how to get the DXDiag and MSInfo, please refer to this guide:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=861

Please send all these files to us, using the following email address; WoWTechEU@Blizzard.com

Put in the subject line; FPS Problems.

This will allow us to collate information on this problem, and then see exactly what's causing it. We need to gather evidence on these issues, and the forums isn't the best way to do so. Please send these details to us, so we can help you resolve any FPS issues you're receiving.

Hello again everyone,

This post is just to re-iterate what we're doing about this problem.

At the moment we are gathering information about this issue. We're trying to find out what our customers who are experiencing this drop in Frame Rates have in common, and also taking a more in-depth look at individual systems so we can find what is causing this problem.

There has been no posts in this thread for a while because what we've been asking you to do is to send emails to us with more information about your systems. This doesn't mean we're ignoring it, it's just that a lot of the work we're doing right now is behind the scenes.

To restate what we require:

We need an email sent to this address: WoWTechEU@Blizzard.com

With the title: EN - FPS Issues

The files we need are:
A copy of your DXDiag;
A copy of your MSInfo;
The contents of the Logs folder.

If you don't know how to create these first two files, please refer to this FAQ article:
http://faq.wow-europe.com/en/article.php?id=861

The Logs folder is found in the World of Warcraft directory.

Please attach these files to your email. If you do not attach all these files, you will receive a reply asking for them to be re-sent.

We are working to solve this, and these files you send to us means we can find the root of the issue faster. The more information we get, the quicker we can help you.

Lavos, it's ok, I think just the people with FPS issues need to send us the details. Any more and it'll probably slow down our answers.

Thanks for the offer of help though.
