Everyone has heard of the WoWwiki, the best source for lore and one of the better sources out there for hints and guides. But did you know that the WoWwiki is also one of the better places to create guild and serverpages on? Well, if you didn't, you know now! This post will attempt in learning you the basics of your very own guildpage. You will need to create an account at the WoWwiki. Also basic knowledge of Wiki-editing is required, you can find a good list of functions at http://www.wowwiki.com/Help:Editing . On to the guide!

Your very own WoWwiki guild adress
The first thing you need to determine is the adress of your guildpage on the WoWwiki. Three information points are needed:
• Your Guildname.

• Your servername.

• Your continent code, in your case: EU

• So, using this information you will go to:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Guild:Guildname (Servername EU) (Copy paste and substitue the words Guildname and Servername with your information)

That's how simple your webadress is. One link and it already contains 3 major points about your guild. On to section 2!

Starting to edit the page
First you need to get to the edit page. This is easily done by pressing the "Edit this page" tab on the top of the page. On the edit page you will see a white editing space where you will start placing your tekst. Every guildpage is subjected to several simple Guidelines. We will go over them one by one.

The first line of your guildpage must be Guild . This template will create an indication banner on top to indicate that the page is a guild page. You have to do this to prevent people from mistaking your page with official lore.

Below that you should create a short summary about your guild. Keep it short, sweet and to the point, and remember to bold the first usage of your guild name.

== Overview ==
Then it's time to create the == Overview == section. The overview section should look somewhat like this:

Q u o t e:
== Overview ==

*Server: Server:Yourserver_Europe
*Faction: Your Faction
*Website: Insert a link to the main guild homepage
*Armory: Insert the link to your guild armory page.

The == == around the Overview are required to make it a subtitle.
The Serverpage and the Faction page are usually wiki-linked (indicated by the ).
The link to your serverpage is always Server:Yourserver_Europe. Server:Shattered Hand_Europe will lead to http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Shattered_Hand_Europe

You can end the Overview by giving a more precise summary of your guild, per example:

Q u o t e:
This guild was formed on Shattered Hand. It is dedicated towards end game instances, and we only recruit people with experience. To fill out an application goto link. For more information you can contact GuildLeader, GuildOfficer1, GuildOfficer2 in game.

From here on the following things are all optional, but they are a great guideline if you want to make a good guildpage. The wiki has quite some powers and it would be a shame if your page looks quit dull, right?

== Guild Progress ==
The second subtitle will usually be == Guild Progress == (again, don't forget the == == for the subtitle). How you fill this up is entirely up to you. You could make a normal list, or if you are more experienced with Wikis you could create some fancy table with every instance and boss and the date and time of downing him.
PvP guilds could make a list of their victories. Things like "Slaughtered RaidingGuild Z" usually make quite a nice look.
RP guilds could place a list here of past RP events.
Remember that the title is a guideline and can be changed, perhaps you prefer "Road to our imbaness!" It's all possible (however that example is not favourable...)

== History ==
Next up is == History ==. Again, this is a section where you fill in the text. This could be how the guild started and perhaps a short summary of great things (or not so great things) that happened with your guild. Fill in at your heart's content.

== Schedule ==
The == Schedule == part is certainly something that shoudl be filled in by yourself. You could place an overview of that week's schedule (or every week for recurring events). Wether it be a raiding, a PvPing or a simple event schedule, adding this to your page is usually a good idea. Remember that you can go wild with tables!

== Guild Rules ==
Every self-respecting guild has a few == Guild Rules ==. This can easily be anything. Certainly you will know what to fill in here!

== Officers ==
The == Officers == section is usually a contact list of the different officers.

== Random section ==
Remember that all these sections are optional and you can easily add other sections, like a crafterlist of the guild, funny notes about specific members, recruitment status and much more.

Do note, we do not really appreciate a normal list of members. Neither do we allow the wiki to be used as a forum. In general terms: don't put any material on the page that requires it to be updated frequently, or is only meant for members of the guild. This is usually more work for yourself, because you will have to keep the list updated manually and in general, people will give up on this.

Categories
The last part of a WoWwiki Guildpage is the Categories. These Categories are a very vital part of incorporating your Guildpage into the WoWwiki. A Category page is a colelction of all pages with similar goals. Per example, there is a Category:Humanoids or a Category:Elementals. The categories that you should include are:
• , , – Choose the one which most closely matches your play-style.

• or .

• - if your guild is on a European server.

• Often it's also a good idea to check your Server Category as there is commonly a specific Category for guilds on your server. Per example:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Server:Shattered_Hand_Europe shows that there is a Category:Shattered_Hand_Europe_Guilds Which holds a list of all Guilds from Shattered Hand with a Wikipage. This may differ for each server or might not even exist on your serverpage.

Small note on Server Pages
Most Server Pages have already been worked on by members of your server. This can be minimal or extensively. A very simple example: http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Skullcrusher_Europe . A more extensive example: http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Shattered_Hand_Europe . A page created by a very Wikiskilled person: http://www.wowwiki.com/Server:Sen%27jin_US

Remember that it is often more than 1 person working on the Serverpage. If you decide to edit it, think about consulting your Realm through your realm forums. Last thing we want is an edit war!

Small note on vandals
Vandals happen. The main downside of a wiki is the Free for all editing. On most Wikipages we will easily spot a vandal, but Guild and Serverpages are usually not as patrolled by the Wikipedians working on the general wikistuff. That's why we need you to report vandals. You can do this in several ways, but the best way is by letting the people know through the Village Pump. For more information regarding Vandals read up on it at http://www.wowwiki.com/WW:VANDAL . There's also a good guideline for reverting the vandalism there.

Conclusion
We at WoWwiki hope that this guide has assisted you in creating your own guildpage at the WoWwiki. If you get really addicted to the Wiki-editing, there are plenty of pages that could use updates. Just surf the wiki, visit pages you now something about and hang around at the WoWwiki IRC channel:chat.freenode.net, #wowwiki ( irc://chat.freenode.net/wowwiki )
