[The Sha'tar] Heroes' Society [Weekly RP]
by Chingo | 20/08/2008 20:32:44![]() What? A guild-independant RP organization that runs weekly roleplay events in the form of player-run quests, similar to those seen in D&D (just without the dice-rolls!), with a new scenario to overcome each week and new baddies to maim and kill. When? From the 31st of August, we'll be running RP events each week. On Sundays, the Horde side get to be heroes, and on Mondays, the Alliance get their turn. They start from 2000 onwards, although people not present at the start can still come later on in the event. We don't mind drop-in and drop-out play. Where? Oh, all around the worlds. But mainly we hold them in low level areas so anyone and everyone can get to them, and join in, and not have the fear of getting ganked by high-level mobs! Contact! Chingo or Lonar on Alliance side, or Gremkarc and Salax on Horde side. ((And now, an IC bit, before a fuller, more precise, and much more ramble-guilty explanation!)) Dear Hero/Adventurer/Mercenary, I, like many others in my line of work, have watched you in yours. I have seen you brave dangers that could have otherwise, if not successful, resulted in your death. I have seen you rescue villagers from the webs of spiders, put down camps of troublesome bandits who prey on merchants, recover lost artefacts from dusty tombs and fought the risen dead therein. I have seen potential in you, and potential that yearns to get out, and show itself to the world. Good news, hero! I am here to offer it that opportunity! I am here to make you true hero! For though you have defeated the agents of evil, darkness, or simply selfishness, there is never a shortage of them, but believe me when I say this hero, there is never a shortage of those willing to do good, either! There is never a shortage of those who wish this world was free of bloodshed, and would act upon it! Such a group of people, whose views on the world are the exact same as this, exists, and it is called the Heroes' Society! You have probably heard of us! We have saved the world on numerous occasions, or have merely saved kingdoms, or perhaps villages! To us, it matters not what the scale of our task is, just that we do it, and in some way, save lives! Do you rise to the challenge, hero? If so, open your parcel, and activate the device in it. It is a specially crafted buzzbox, that links you with others in the organization. Ask them anything. About what we have already achieved, and who are our greatest enemies! Take their words about me with a grain of salt, though! Heroes they may be, but being understanding to a mind beyond their own comprehension... that is not one of their strongpoints, I am afraid! If you do not wish to save the world, be cheered, and finish your life knowing that you helped make the world a better place, then take this letter, and the parcel, and burn it somewhere. These items are no use to you. Just junk. Save the world, hero! Your Benefactor, Charlie the Red. ((Hello! The Heroes' Society is reopening for business on the 31st of August! It is a guildless (that is, you can join if you're already in a guild) organization that has been around on our realm since March 2008, and during its time here, it's picked up many friendly roleplayers who, each week, come together and take part in roleplay events in the form of player-run quests. Player-run quests? Yep! These come in all shapes and sizes, and I suppose the best way to describe would be to say that they're D&D-style adventures without the dice-rolls! Each week we take on a different foe in a different setting and scenario, from disrupting the Venture Corporation operations at Windshear Crag, to freeing captured dwarves from ogre mounds in Loch Modan. Events are generally set in low-level areas, so that as many people as possible can get to them, and join in on the fun. We conduct our events in raid groups, and environmental changes are shown as raid warnings. These can be anything from describing the changes in the landscape, to emoting battles. We sometimes use imaginary enemies, where our members are free to use their imaginations in how to dispose of them. These come in two forms. Henchman battles, in which multiple foes come at once, and the participants kill or incapacitate them at will, and Boss battles, where there is only one foe, who reacts, again in raid warning, to the heroes' emotes, and through cooperation and tactics, must be dealt with. Our emphasis is on drop-in, and drop-out play. We require no attendance to our events. If you wanna come, you can come, if you don't wanna come, no one is forcing ya. To make it easier for newcomers and those who aren't always with us, each week there is a brand new storyline, separate from ones before, which means there is little catching up to do. Our lore is very short and basic, and whilst Charlie is a major figure, knowing all about her is not a requirement to have fun. :) Our aim is to give everyone the chance to be a hero, and be in the limelight. You don't have to have a particularly good character to join in, as even thieves need a world to steal from! Our events apply to both sides of the server, and Horde side events are on Sundays, and Alliance side events are on Mondays. We start them about 2000 server time, although you can join in if you're late, so don't worry about that. :) If you'd like to join, contact either Chingo or Lonar in game on Alliance side, or, if you're Horde, Gremkarc or Salax! Looking forward to hearing from you! We have a forum, led by the lovely Hadgren, which can be seen here. Registering is encouraged, but certainly not compulsary: http://heroes.forum-motion.com/index.htm)) The Heroes' Society: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=3190960357&sid=1 Big Chingo: Bloody annoyed. Gremkarc of Orgrimmar: Not so much. |
by Vaneras | 21/08/2008 14:51:07![]() Looks like a very nice initiative this. Most certainly a good way getting more people into roleplay without making it overwhelming :-) We will add this to the community events section of our homepage later today. Behold! The glorious Epic Mug of Vaneras... More commonly known as The Alebringer: http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z57/Vaneras_bucket/EpicMug.jpg |
