The Friday Thread
by Wryxian | 05/09/2008 10:42:27![]() It looks as though, without any intervention or coercion from ourselves, the days have ticked on by again and we've found ourselves slap bang in the middle of another Friday. The weekend looms ahead... So what will you do this weekend? Where will your adventures take you -- further quests outside the home or deeper into the Internet instead? What kind of an effect will you have on the world this weekend, and will your actions leave evidence to be encounter years from now? It happens all the time, the world over, but just recently in Poland the remains of a 30 year old woman were found buried at an excavation in Pinczow, in southern Poland. Sure, folk die all the time and it's not uncommon to hear of bodies being discovered. Thing is, this one is 6,500 years old... http://www.polskieradio.pl/thenews/news/?id=90480 What kind of a mark are you leaving on the world -- will it be visible 6,500 years from now? What could happen if at that time they find your body, would anything you keep on you give any clue as to what you did and what you thought? On the Internet, we make forum posts, websites, blogs and all sorts of other creations that may very well be accessible long after we die. But 6,500 years from now, who can say what evidence of these things will be available for people to see. Will people even be around then, to be able to want to do that? Maybe I should keep on me a DVD including things I've made over the years, my writings especially... will the DVD even be readable 6,500 years from now though? Perhaps it's time to start etching some stone tablets... ;-) This weekend I'm venturing out into Paris for my first night out there since arriving here in May. Yeah, takes me a while to get used to living in a new place, I guess. Here's hoping for some good weather this weekend! What about you, what are you up to?
