Golly it's been a while since ye olde Wryx has done the Friday Thread! OK so... *tries to remember the routine*... the days have ticked on by, last weekend passed and then we had Monday... work, work... then.... FRIDAY! Woohoo, it's almost the weekend again!

So what style of Friday Thread was Wryxian known for, when he did post Friday Threads regularly back in the day? Well, I was known for doing them almost completely about science articles, because I am absolutely fascinated with science in general and a few topics like human evolution, astronomy and human exploration of space in particular. So I'm not going to disappoint this time. It's a science based Friday Thread. Science articles are always very safe to talk about, right? Well... let's see...

Apparently some very clever scientists have been carefully analysing the genome of human's close cousins the Neanderthals and meticulously comparing this against our own genome. After doing so, they are pretty certain that despite all the theories back and forth about this topic -- humans and Neanderthals interbred. They tell us this because it seems the population of humans outside of Africa have telltale evidence in their genome which suggests we received genes from closely related species. The most likely candidate is the Neanderthals, which were widespread in Europe, the Middle East and Asia up until only a few tens of thousands of years ago.

So I'm talking about interbreeding in Off Topic and yes this could be a mistake. ;-) But I need to point out here that, should you decide to take this topic and make some nasty remarks which are against our rules we will have to open a can of whoop-ass on you, via the medium of suspensions! *gasp* So please guys, don't do that, even though it is SO very tempting to do so.

Right, that's done. So, there's a very high chance I'll be spending a lot of the weekend in Azeroth. I've been taking a break for a little while actually as I needed a healthy break away to allow my love of the game to recharge a bit. But events have conspired to tempt me back in -- and who am I to stand against the power of the call of WoW? ;-)
