This is a post I made in the suggestion forum, but I also don’t want to just be there, I want this to start a discussion about the topic so I decided to even make a copy here.

Q u o t e:
Today´s topic is about the spell resurrection with focus on the restoration druid, we are not going to talk about the rebirth spell that lets druids raise fallen comrade in combat. I want to focus on the spell that the druids are lacking and that I think they are in dire need of, the resurrection spell that lets druids resurrect outside combat without the need to use rebirth.
This topic will focus on 5 man content and content that is ment for less than 5 players, this will not focus on raids since the effect on giving druids a out of combat resurrection will be minimal in raids. Today’s agenda is: • What the problem is and why it should get implemented. • Problems that could emerge from implementing this. • Ways to implement it.
What the problem is and why it should get implemented In 5 man dungeons: The problem for restoration druids is that everyone understands that we are a healer but we are seen as a gimped one. Most of the community would pick a holy paladin, restoration shaman or a healing priest if they had the chance instead of a restoration druid. One of the reasons for this is that druids are lacking the out of combat resurrection spell. And I already want to stop the unnecessary comments like “don’t let anyone die, and you are fine”, or “just use your rebirth, you won’t need it more than each 30 minute anyway” I just want to write a small list: • As a healer you can´t control everything. • Even if you know how to play, there are still a lot of players that don’t. • PUG. • Heroics. • A Combat spell should be used in combat, a out of combat spell should be used out of combat. As in, I rater save my rebirth to use it when something goes bad. And now to continue ….
Since restoration druids lack the out of combat resurrection we are limited in the ways we decide to make our groups, we need to consider to bring other member in the party that can resurrect players this is normally a dps shaman or a shadow priest or a feral druid or in rare cases a dps or tank paladin. (2 rebirths is not needed so here one of the rebirths counts as a out of combat resurrect spell but with cooldown) An other alternative if you can’t get one of above is to bring a warlock for summoning to save at least some time on the corps run.
Arena: In arena a restoration druid can be powerful if used the right way, but we shine more in 2on2 and 3on3 then 5on5 and its in the 2on2 and 3on3 we can see the problem again, in 2on2 and 3on3 you usually one have one healer and if this is a restoration druid you already have a small problem compared to the other healing classes, this is that If one of your team mates dies, that person is really dead and can’t come to life again, this would not be the case if the team decided to use a other healer then a druid since they all have a resurrection spell that can be used in the arena, but druids cant. I am not asking here to make to make rebirth working in the arena since that would be to powerful but I am just pointing out once more that the problems for druids and the need of a normal out of combat resurrection spell.
Problems that could emerge from giving druids an out of combat resurrection. The druid will have the ability to stealth pass mobs and then resurrect the whole party, sort of a anti wipe.
Ways to implement it. There is two ways for druids to learn this new out of combat spell, the first one is by training it from our druid class trainer (There is actually a third way, from a book, but personally I don’t like this idea.) , this will give all druids this new spell. The other way is by talents, this talent will then be placed some were in the restoration tree. Exactly where I will not even speculate and leave that to blizzard.
A other thing to consider with a druids out of combat resurrection spell is if we want it to be as powerful as the priest and paladin version one way to still give druids a out of combat resurrection spell is to give it a cooldown, I think the cooldown should be between 0-15 minutes so we at least can use it once in the arena, but again I will leave this up to blizzard. Keep in mind that adding a small cooldown will fix the problem that druid’s stealth in and use this new ability as an anti wipe ability.
