Q u o t e:
Dynamic Shadows & Flickering Graphics

Patch 3.0.2 introduces dynamic shadow effects to World of Warcraft for the first time. These add a great deal to the immersion of the environment, but can cause a significant drop in performance.

To disable the effect completely you can also add this line to the file in your WTF folder in the World of Warcraft game directory: SET FixedFunction “1”

WotLK fresh install

I wanted to turn of Shadows completely to strech my older system a little bit more. Wrote SET FixedFunction “1” at the end of the long line of settings in the file in the WTF-Folder but it doesn´t work, it even gets removed by WoW after i start the game. Then i wrote it just below the long line of settings with the same result.

How do i turn of shadows completely in WotLK? I don´t care about those graphics, specialy cause they slow the game down in my case.

The Shadow Blob should add little or no impact to your game performance, you can turn of the shadow completely but chances are you won't see a great performance gain.

Open a console window and issue the following command:
/Console shadowLOD 0

What about your other values, for example do you have View Distance maxed out?
