Retrieving character list freeze, Tarren mill
by Igrumu | 08/05/2008 16:26:43![]() Hi Soulstalker, You might like to try resetting your connection and flushing your DNS as explained in steps 2 and 3 of the article here: http://eu.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=19459 If you're playing from Bosnia and Herzegovina we are aware of the connection issue and it's under investigation by our networking team. However, I would also recommend speaking to your provider concerning your connection to the Tarren Mill realm. You can find information on how to create a trace route to your realm here, as you're unable to connect to your realm run the tracert command to the following IP: 213.248.123.45 |
by Igrumu | 08/05/2008 16:52:58![]() Hello Soulstalker, Your trace looks pretty bad after the second hop: 2 8 ms 8 ms 7 ms ge-1-1.sw-01.core.sa.lol.ba [217.75.207.113] 3 193 ms 189 ms 195 ms 195.29.249.145 I'd definitely recommend speaking to your provider regarding the rise in latency there. In the meantime, to change your default realm to something other than Tarren Mill, follow these steps: - Completely close your game down - Navigate to your game folder (normally C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft) - Go into the WTF folder and open the Config.wtf file - Look a line that reads SET realmName "Tarren Mill" and delete it The next time you launch the game, it should ask you to choose a realm. When opening the Config.wtf file, if prompted select a program from the list and choose WordPad. |
by Igrumu | 08/05/2008 17:05:27![]() Hi Rebellion, A rise in latency from below 10 to just under 200 is very significant and will greatly affect the connection to the realm. The World of Warcraft realms are located in different areas of Europe, your routing to one realm will differ to that of another. You may find that you experience latency or connection issues with other realms sharing the same Battlegroup as Tarren Mill: http://wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/battlegroups.html |
by Igrumu | 08/05/2008 18:02:08![]() Soultaker, I would let them see your trace and explain your issue with connecting to your realms IP address - 213.248.123.45. Ask if they can offer any alternative routing to your realm or if they could check why your latency jumps so high after the second hop. Ubicamala, You have really high latency at your first hop which indicates something local. Check your network/firewall/router, if you're using wireless try connecting with a wire. Resetting your modem by disconnecting the power for a few minutes may also help. Rebellion, I know connection issues are frustrating and I too hope that the issue is resolved in a timely manner. Our networking team are doing what they can but unfortunately investigating connection issues can be a tricky and lengthy process. Bikdutazi, Technical Support are limited in what support we can offer when connection issues are reported. We do forward all connection information posted to our networking team, who then begin the investigation process. As I just mentioned in my reply to Rebellion, unfortunately some investigations are more complex than others and will take some time. Your trace shows no obvious issues that I could comment on and was forwarded to our networking team on Tuesday: 02/05/2008 - Latency Report Submission Thread |
