Queue?! 0_o
by Thundgot | 14/12/2007 19:13:30![]() As I posted on the General forum, I don't have the numbers in front of me right now, but I think pretty much everybody who migrated are online tonight, and will be for the weekend. I hope and think it'll settle down a little bit after that. The turnout for the migration has indeed turned out to be higher than expected, which is why we're closing it tomorrow morning. |

If it turns out people continue migrating even more before it closes, and the realm fills even more and the queues don't go away, we'll consider opening migration the other way (most likely to Stonemaul, as that's where we see most players move from) for a day or two next week. Please note that this is a consideration to be made, not something guaranteed. We definitely take over-filling a destination very seriously though, and will do what we can to address it. |
by Thundgot | 14/12/2007 19:35:51![]() Druiledd, I'm afraid that between making sure all guilds get all members across and avoiding long queues on Molten Core, we must emphasize on the latter. What purpose would it have to migrate players if they only end up in an equally long queue again? If there was an easy way to ensure both, we would definitely go for that solution. I definitely understand the concern this causes, but looking at queues forming already tonight we really have no choice. |

An interesting suggestion, but while you might be right it could be a big gamble to do so. I doubt we'd go for that.
Stonemaul has the "Full" tag because of the population it had prior to the migration opening. It has space for more people at the moment. I haven't seen the latest numbers on Warsong. We definitely agree on the queues - none of us want those. Please don't panic before we've had a chance to see the results over the weekend and act on those though.
Indeed, and other said nobody will move at all; somebody will always be able to say "told you so!" afterwards. :-) We will close the migration tomorrow morning, observe the situation on Sunday evening, and make a decision on Monday (in the afternoon, most likely) on how to proceed.
It's an option, but not a guarantee. Note that if such a migration is opened, it'll be for a very limited time, as we'd for sure aim for a minimal migration not half the people moving back.
That's awfully pessimistic considering we've announced the coming of a Russian localization and then opened migration to address the queues on Warsong and Stonemaul. I don't see that we've given you any reason to believe we won't continue to address the concerns of the players on these realms.
Noted. If it's not corrected by the regular update scripts for the forums we'll make sure to report it.
It's not that simple to predict. The situation was identical on Warsong, yet the migration there was lower. ---------- In general, please be assured that we're monitoring the migration and population numbers very carefully over the weekend. However, prior to Monday we do not intend to take any action but close the migration tomorrow morning. Once we've seen exactly how things play out on Sunday during peak hours we will discuss these on Monday and let you all know the next step. |

Thanks for this input. :-) If what you say is correct it's a little puzzling, as the migration from Stonemaul was quite a bit higher than from Warsong. If some of the top Wasong PvE guilds moved, while the top Stonemaul ones stayed, and players follow the PvE guilds, I'd think it should be the other way around. Naturally, the PvP community has an impact too. I saw posts saying the Stonemaul PvP community would either all stay or all move. Maybe they did indeed decide to move. I haven't checked the different threads to find out that yet.
That is something we'll have to take into consideration in our discussions on Monday. Maybe opening only for 12 hours is an option. We would like to avoid closing the migration without notice though. A set time span when the migration is open would be preferred. Feedback from players on Molten Core is of course welcome. If indeed half the population would move back, we'd probably want to restrict it somewhat as that's far more than would be wanted. |
by Thundgot | 15/12/2007 23:10:31![]() Delfosse, thanks for the excellent update and links. That's helpful for us analysing the migration. :-) Through a quick chat with one of the guys at the office I gather that there was minimal or no queues on Molten Core tonight. We'll see how it is tomorrow, as we suspect the total activity will be slightly higher then. And then we'll be back on Monday with info on how we will proceed from there. |
