Poor Random Loot Drops in Raids
by Leó | 02/09/2010 12:49:16![]() Hi All, I would like to take this oppurtunity and discuss about how poorly managed some loot randomness is with Raids at the moment. As a guild for example we have done Lord Marrowgar on HC about 16 times - with the specific item "Bulwark of Smouldering Steel" not having dropped once. We've done RS 5 times as a guild and 4 of the times the trinket " [Petrified Twilight Scale]" has dropped and no-one needs that poor excuse for a tank trinket. For guild progress and to make harder fights easier to be done, we need proper upgrades for healers/tanks and dps to drop alike. I think this could be said regarding other guilds and I believe it's a genuine problem and there has to be a solution for such poor drop rates. I fully understand about probability and randomness, but let me put this forward in terms of probabiltity: There are 15 different types of items that can drop from Lord Marrowgar, therefore there is a 1 in 15 chance that the item you are looking for should drop. Now put that probability into the our guild situation, we've done it 16 times therefore surely we should have seen the item "Bulwark of Smouldering Steel" drop once, answer no??? so what is the blizzard logic they are using because simple probability can't solve it and it definitely seems like a 0% drop rate. In addition I've personally had to have done Rotface 25 man HC 16 times and not once have I seen the "Dislogded Foriegn Object" trinket drop once at all. Also I've also had to have done Gunship 10 man HC 11 times & again not once have I seen the "Muradin's Spyglass" trinket drop either. Looking at my main character "http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Anachronos&cn= The trinkets I and many are looking for are roughly 500-1000 dps increase for most Ranged Caster DPS. How as a guild could we possibly do the much harder content even attempt LK HC more often without getting the necessary items we need to drop more regularly, it is just an absolute disgrace to think the loot would and could drop everyweek only to have been continuely dissappointed for 3 months now. My account is evidence enough, if I haven't stated enough facts above already Blizzard can cross-reference what dropped to the specific boss kills (date/time from Armory) and you would find that it is the truth I speak of With Cataclysm fast approaching and no luck on these items/trinkets never dropping we all may as well cancel our subscriptions now & not bother raiding anymore (no bluffing, people have quit the game because of such a non-existent & 0% drop rate) I genuinely ask to Blizzard is that in their right mind want to happen?? Frustrate and annoy players who dedicate time & effort every week to achieve something worth working together for. So I emplore Blizzard to find a solution for this situation as I should think my guild is not the only victim of this poor random loot system, accountability of what people REALLY need must outweigh items/gear that no-one needs because it's just very very bad at the moment. by Tailyda | 02/09/2010 13:06:17![]() I can appreciate your concern over the importance of obtaining items in terms of progression Leó but as you have already pointed out, each item has a chance to drop and this is not cumulative. Each week the probability of the item dropping remains the same no matter how many times you have done it before and is true for all the items on the loot table. However if you feel that this should be changed, then you are certainly very welcome to pass on your ideas and feedback in our Suggestions forum here. :) http://forums.wow-europe.com/board.html?sid=1&forumId=10024 I do hope that you and your guild get the items you are after and wish you all the best of luck in your future runs. :) IGCS Forum Representative • EN Has remembered to take his canvas bags to the supermarket. |
by Tailyda | 02/09/2010 21:39:02![]() While I am not able to go into full details about how our game mechanics work Aezir, I am sorry that you feel that my earlier answer was not sufficient and I will try to explain it in a different manner. If an item is shown as a very low drop in the Armory (i.e. 2%) this means that every time you kill the boss there is a 2% chance the item will appear. Even if you kill them 100 times this percentage does not change. As I mentioned before, if you feel that the way the system works is unfair then you can post ways you would like to see it improved in our Suggestions forum.
