Picking the Class that Sounds Like You
by Shazmax | 29/09/2010 14:39:05![]() I'm pretty sure that the major problem most of us have faced at the start of WoW-Career is picking a class and sticking with it. I admit I am an altoholic, and I imagine the newer players have the same sort of problems. But fret not, for it is here that I will help you to pick a class that sounds like you. All of the classes in WoW are driven by some sort of purpose, be it vanquishing evil, keeping balance in the world or simply getting some coin into their pockets. Ask yourself whether you want to be good or bad, or if you don't want to take sides. Let's dive in and take a look: Druid Druids are the keepers of the natural world. They restore balance to the forests and commune with the trees. Druids follow the teachings of Cenarius and the Ancients and vow to protect nature. It is without surprise that druids despise the work of the Venture Co. and the Warsong Lumber Camps. Druids seek to further understand and commune with nature by taking on various animal forms to expand their knowledge of the natural world. In game, druids are, without doubt, the most versatile class in the game. Through specialisation in Balance, they can take on the form of a great moonkin and use the fury of the stars and moon to strike down their foes and keep balance in the forests. With Feral, they can take on the form of a Bear to sponge up damage for their friends and shift to a cat form to unleash primal fury with ravenous slashes and tears. With restoration, the druid channels the power of nature through them to heal their allies wounds. At the moment, the druid takes on a Tree of Life form for this, but in Cataclysm, it will be changed from a shapeshift to a cooldown. We are the preservers of the balance, now and forever, as Malfurion lies in the Dreaming. Never forget this. - Kal of Dolanaar Hunter Hunters are the survivalist of Azeroth. They wander the wilds of the world tracking, befriending and taming beasts on their way. Hunters are also master trappers with an assortment of traps to lay and harm or subdue enemies. While it is true that Hunters are skill with melee weapons their true power shines through when they take up a bow or gun. Hunters have a pinpoint accuracy and their skills with ranged weapons and matched by no-one. Possibly the most important factor to hunters is the well-being of their pets. Wherever you go, your furry companion will be their to lend a hand and all it asks for in return is a slab of meat and pat on the head every now and then. In game, Hunters are the best levelling class, seldom taking damage themselves and having a trap for every occasion. A hunter can choose to become the ultimate beat handler with Beast Mastery, and unrivalled archer with Marksmanship, or the master trapper of the wild with Survival. At this current moment in time, hunters use mana as their resource, but come cataclysm and mana will change to focus for them, an energy like resources that comes back over time. One shot...one kill... - Sylvanas Windrunner Mage Magi are the arcanists and wizards of the world. Their magic knowledge is substantial and their methods of neutralisation are a force to be reckoned with. Magi often tamper with arcane and time energies for a variety of outcomes while others stick to launching bolts of frost and fire at their enemies. Magi are masters of manipulating the flows of magic, so much so that they can teleport themselves and conjure portals to various cities around the world, infact they can even conjure their own food and water. Most magi choose to specialise in the Arcane and can mete out incredible burst damage while those that choose Fire see some of the most potent crits known to man (or gnome) and leave their foes ignited in endless flames. Those that choose Frost, however, are brilliant at slowing their enemies and fortifying themselves with ice to shatter their frozen enemies out with spectacular results. Shh! I'm trying to think here. - Jaina Proudmoore Paladin The devout Paladins of the world are Azeroth's knights in shining armour. They are the lawbringers and peacekeepers of the world. Paladins serve the holy light in faith, and use it to smite their foes in battle. Wherever Paladins go, they bring justice with them. They are the righteous vanquishers of evil. Paladins are so heroic that they posses auras that strengthen their allies and can bless their friends with might and wisdom. In game, a Paladin's versatility is matched only by a druids. With a Holy specialisation, Paladins can opt to use the holy light to heal the wounds of their allies. With Protection they become righteous templars of justice, protecting allies from harm, and with Retribution, they are the vindicators of the world, seeking justice in all things. Formerly, Paladins were an Alliance only class, but with the Burning Crusade, the horde has gained access to paladins via the Blood Elf race. Blood elven paladins, however, once bent the light to their will, having it serve them by harvesting the powers of the light from the Naruu M'uru. This is not the case for them at all any more. The Blood Knights of the Horde have pledged their services to A'dal and the Shattered Sun Offensive. Courage is our greatest weapon! - Tirion Fordring Priest The forever faithful Priests of the world are Azeroth's clerics and healers. Primarily, Priests cleanse souls, heal wounds and resurrect the fallen. The faith of priests is unmatched. For humans, dwarves and blood elves (and gnomes in cataclysm) the holy light serves as the centre of their worship, but for Night elves, it their moon goddess Elune. Trolls serve their various animalistic loas and the Undead operate around the Cult of the Forgotten Shadow. Though priests are a bastion of endless light, some are different. Shadow priests take on the aspect of shadow itself to torture and control the minds of others. Pain and death is only a word away if you upset a Shadow Priest. In game, priests can specialise themselves to become amazing healers using Holy or Discipline, or become an endless nightmare that washes over the land in Shadow. Not all who wander are lost. - Velen Rogue If somewhere needs scouted or someone needs killed, rogues are only a handful of coin away. Rogues are the assassins and scouts of Azeroth. They are rarely loyal to a flag or set of beliefs. Most a driven by the size of their wallet. Many rogues are master escape artists while other have devoted themselves to close quarter combat. Needless to say - any rogue you meet will never fight fair. Rogues employ poisons, blinding manoeuvres and various stuns in combat to make sure their foes go down and stay down. Rogues often do whatever it takes to win a fight, and on more than one occasion rogues cheat death and flee combat. The primary advantage to playing a rogue is their ability to stealth - seen...but unseen. In game, many would argue rogues offer little beyond their insane damage, but a well played rogue can sometimes be the difference for life and death for your group. Rogues can choose to specialise in Assassination and wield daggers to do immense amounts of damage with them and their poisons. Combat rogues choose swords, maces and axes over daggers to bring their enemies down whirl of steel. Combat rogues are known to not rely on stealth as much as Subtlety rogue, who are masters of dark and deceptive combat tactics. Picking and choosing targets carefully to ambush and waylay. I take my anger out on our enemies! Unlike some grouches… - Valeera Sanguinar Shaman Hell hath no fury like a women's scorn...not in the case of the Shaman. Hell hath no fury like that of the elements. Shaman are keepers of the elements, watching them and aiding them where possible. Many orcish and tauren shaman believe in the spirit realm, where they may commune with their ancestors. Shaman use the power of the elements in combat to imbue their weapons and spells. Shaman also plant totems in the round the enhance themselves and their allies. The Elemental Shaman charges them self with lightning energies to and bring down their enemies. Shocking, I know. Enhancement Shaman imbue their weapons with the power of the elements and strike with totemic fury, While the Restoration Shaman uses the spirits and the power of water to heal themselves and their allies. The spirits...are restless. - Thrall Warlock Warlocks are master of the dark arts. These former magi, and in the case of orcs, shaman have abandoned their ways and heeded a new call in the name of shadow. Warlocks serve demon lords and posses a variety of potent spells to summon demons to their aid. Utilising Corrupting shadows and chaotic fires, warlocks seek to gain power and destroy. In any culture, warlocks are feared individuals who dabble in dark magic, but to the undead they are held as powerful leaders. Using the corrupting powers of Affliction a warlock can curse their enemies and drain them of all life killing enemies slowly and painfully over time. With Demonology, they learn to better understand the nature of demons, so much so that they can become one themselves, temporarily. And with the power of Destruction, warlocks rain chaos upon civilisation, destroying everything in their sight and leaving only a charred path at their feet. Behold those who have power, and who are not afraid to wield it. Behold... the warlocks! - Gul'dan Warrior Warriors come from many different backgrounds and are driven by many different purposes. These highly trained, weaponry experts and great foes in combat, swinging steal to give life and limb for what they believe in. Though warriors posses no magic ability they make up for it with their military expertise and iron will. Warriors are the metal-clad bulk of a countries fighting forces. While some serve their country in war, other are mercenaries to the highes [ Post edited by Shazmax ] Bloodlust is just a murloc on steroids ROARAWRARAURARAH!! |
