I haven't really paid attention to mmo-champion and the likes, so I don't really know wether Northrend is being affected or not. Will we see any changes at all?

It is possible that we may see a few very small changes or updates in Northrend once Cataclysm comes, but in general you should not expect to see any major changes happening there, if any at all.
