Nefarian phase 1

by Golfillo | 09/01/2007 16:47:20

We are a relatively new guild with one main goal before TBC. To kill nefarian.
Finally we are at him, and already some hours working on our phase 1.

Would you mind telling me what diff strats do you use for phase 1? I have seen and read lots of diff ones, some not working anymore (battle shout), some not working propely after last patches, etc.

Anything posted would be very welcome. Think just we are Horde and we are not as well geared as we would like. as MT just have 5 pieces of wrath and just me and another warrior are simmilar geared with the rest some steps below. Simmillar gear for all classes with just one or 2 each class with more than 3 T2 pieces.

Q u o t e:
We split the raid evenly between the 2 sides. If one side is highly resistant to one type of magic, we might move some locks and mages around to get optimal caster DPS, but melee, hunters and healers are split 50/50 more or less.

Each side has 2 tanks for colored drakonids. The first tank picks up the first drakonid, lands a few threat moves etc... the second tank goes for the second colored to appear, then tank #1 picks up the third, etc.. Taking turns. It's not necessary for these tanks to build up alot of threat on the drakonids, just enough to prevent them from going to healers or to the other side. If a drakonid escapes, this tank should stay put and wait for his next one to arrive. A DPS-person (usually a rogue) is main-assist on each side. He picks a colored drakonid and the rest of the DPS nukes it down. A few seconds later he picks the next one, while the DPS finishes off the last one. It's important for the MA to switch targets quickly, and for the DPS to finish off the current drakonid before switching to the new target.

Chromatic drakonids come every minute. On the north door, these are tanked by the MT (since they go down before the colored once do usually, and you kinda need the MT when nef lands). Hunters and spare melee go on the Chromatics once they spawn and nuke it down quickly.

If any drakonids escape the killzone, Druids pop to bearform and pull them back in. On each side there's 1 person (usually a caster) to call out for AoE, when the drakonids don't die fast enough. Once this person calls out for AoE, all casters on that side unleash AoE.

When the 3rd Chromatic spawns, Hunters/melee on the north door needs to get it down fast, to relieve the MT of his drakonid-duties. When Nef is about to land, a couple of healers from each side and the MT move to their Ph2 positions to pick up Nef. Everyone else helps to mop up the remaining drakonids.

Good luck.

edit: the colored drakonid tanks can dual-wield or 2H tank if they want, for added damage and threat.

This is the exact same tactic we have been using. I approve!
