I'm sorry to lock your recruitment thread Mithrid, but it seems this has gotten rather off topic. I'd like to remind everyone of our policy on 'Naming and Shaming' on the World of Warcraft forums: Q u o t e: We’ve seen a worrying increase in the naming and shaming trend, especially on the realm forums, and have decided to adopt a very strict policy on this kind of threads and posts.
While we do understand the community’s wish to point out people acting in ways that are not appreciated, the ease at which a false claim can be made and supported, and the lack of possibility for us to validate such claims, means naming and shaming on the forums is a shady area at best.
We wish to make it clear that the naming and shaming policy is made in order to protect the innocent, and thus prevent the extensive harassment of those wrongfully accused. However since a zero-tolerance policy has a potential to also protect the guilty, we have made the following rules for such threads:
- If a person is being named and shamed in-game and accused of ninja-looting, scamming, cheating or so forth, that person is free to create a thread in these forums to defend him or herself in order to claim his or her innocence. If an accused person decides to create a thread to defend him or herself, then that person acknowledges the right of other people to post claims and provide documentation that may in fact support the accusations.
- If a person wishes to accuse another person of such offences in-game, and that person has evidence in the form of screenshots or a video to support those accusations, that person may create a thread in the appropriate realm forum(s) where the evidence is presented to the community. However, the forum thread and all posted evidence must not show or mention the name of the accused in any way. If people find that the presented evidence is trustworthy and thus wish to know the name of the accused, they can request the name by contacting the person who presented the evidence in-game.
Forums Code of Conduct In short, do not post the names of supposed scammers on the forums, report them to a GM instead. |
