Mindcontrolled buffs

And in particular from the scarshield spellbinder in Black Rock Spire. He has a nice +81 fire resistance buff which lasts an hour and can come in pretty handy in our raids

But I’ve heard/read mixed statements about it.

In our guild there’s a discussion where some people say it is an exploit and a bannable offense. They even have a screenshot of a GM saying that it is indeed considered an exploit and a bannable offense to boot.
While other people (like me) say it is just ‘clever usage of game mechanics’ and point towards stickies here on the (priest)forums where it is stated as indeed a ‘clever usage of game mechanics’ with no harmful consequences.

I want to know which one it is for certain hence me making this post.
Is it an exploit and bannable offense? Or just ‘clever usage of game mechanics’?

We’re on the verge of killing Raggy for the first time and this buff would help some of us a lot

It's not an exploit. The mobs are put there for a reason :)
