Launcher and .exe errors, 4.0.3

Hello there.

I can't seem to start WoW.

Yesterday I started it like I always do, on my desktop shortcut launcher and it worked fine.
And today I got this error: "Launcher cannot obtain patching information. Please check your internet configuration."
I looked on google if people have had the same problem, and it seems many did. I wrote down a bunch of solutions people had and tried them all, but none worked so far.

I've even tried booting the wow.exe to by-pass launcher, and that didn't work either. I got another error that says:
"Failed to initialize wow.mfil.
Details:
[2] err=0 text=Manifests::ReadDirectFile - ReadDirectFileFromBuffed failed
[1] err=0 text=ManifestInfo::ReadDirectFileFromBuffer - manifest_partial tag failed
[0] err=0 text=FileManifest::ReadIndirectFile - Download"

As I said before, I've tried all solutions I could find via google and official forums. Not even the repair tool works, and people said that reinstall doesnt work either so Im not to keen on going through the pain of reinstalling EVERYTHING if it doesnt work.

I'm running windows XP.

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks.

Hi,

You likely have some sort of security program blocking the Launcher.exe from connecting to get the patch updates.

Try a selective start-up to see if that helps.

Q u o t e:
and if i'm using Mac?
btw i have no firewall of something like that.. I was running WoW till yesterday night as usually...
ty for patience

You could try opening the game directly by click World of Warcraft.app icon in the World of Warcraft folder, then close it, and launch the launcher and it should patch.

If that fails, you can delete these files:

1. Navigate to Applications/World of Warcraft
2. Delete WoW.mfil and WoW.tfil
3. Launch WoW using the Launcher.
4. Try patching again.
