It is a very good idea, if not a must, to have both anti-virus and anti-spyware software installed on your computer. There are many different programs available; some are free whereas some are not, and some are aimed for novice users whereas some are for experienced users. Here is a useful link where you can find a list of the most common and decent anti-virus software available: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_antivirus_software And here is a good link for anti-spyware software: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti_spyware#Anti-spyware_programs It is also a very good idea to get a proper piece of firewall software, which will make your system much safer from intrusion attempts and attacks from the net, and from trojans, keyloggers, virusses, etc. already present on your system that may try to get access to the Internet. This is a good link if you are looking for a firewall: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_firewall |
