Gray PLAY button - round 3

Here we are, another patch day, yet again, Launcher still not working as it should be.

I am getting tired of having to install every patch using my laptop for downloading the patch and then manually copying it to my PC.

If you wanna ask any technical details or what I have tried, here ya go, the list is long and to be honest, I am not going to write it all over again every time to get answers like "check the flashplayer if it is up to date".

If you need more info, then say what you need. But I am expecting an answer when I give the info, not just another thread killed with a one sentence answer that has no solution.

Thanks.

Hi,

You may have old left over files from the older client, chech the following locations and only delete the files listed, if they are present

Inside World of Warcraft\Data

common-2.MPQ
common.MPQ
expansion.MPQ
lichking.MPQ
patch.MPQ
patch-2.MPQ
patch-3.MPQ

Also delete the Cache folder inside the Data folder.

In World of Warcraft\Data\enGB

patch-enGB.MPQ
expansion-locale-enGB.MPQ
expansion-speech-enGB.MPQ
lichking-locale-enGb.MPQ
lichking-speech-enGB.MPQ

Can you check in the WoW folder for a launcherpatch.exe file, delete it an then run the Launcher again.

Hi,

Could you check to see if the Launcher.exe is running in some sort of comparability mode?

Q u o t e:
Hi all!

Well.... Having the same problem as so many else. In adition I have tried everything (as have so many others). This is really getting on my nerves. This "greyed out Play button" fail has kept me from playing a game that I pay for for an entire month now.

If there is no solution in the near future I will quit playing wow entirely and do something else. I'm sure there will be many others to follow and to me it seems foolish if Blizz don't tackle this error asap since they will lose quite a lot of money on it. Is it even any idea for us purshasing cata?!

In the end I would like for the problem to be solved since I have many friends playing and letting them down isn't all that fun.

Cheers everyone for trying so hard to find a solution!!

This isn't an error as such, the launcher is not connecting to the service to retrieve patching information, why its not working for you I do not know but something on your system or in the configuration of your system is preventing the launcher from working correctly.

Did you try using Safemode with Networking?
