From time to time we receive a number of e-mails concerning login problems on the forums. While most of these are temporary, e.g. just after reopening an account or changing a password, some are a bit more complicated. We've here gathered a list of possible causes and solutions to help with this, and will extend it as new causes and solutions are found.

First of all, a couple of key points:
  • a Battle.net account can not be used for posting on the forums until a European WoW account has been linked to it
  • your forum login is the same as your game and account pages login.
  • you only have access to the forum if you also have access to the game. I.e. if your account is not active for any reason, you will not be able to post on the forums.
  • your European World of Warcraft account does not give you access to the US World of Warcraft forums.
  • your password should be no more than 16 characters long; Account Creation and Management pages, and game login, accepts only 16 characters. The forum password field accepts more though. If you (think you) have a longer password, try using only the 16 first characters in the password, or change your password to have 16 or fewer characters.

Please make sure to check Legorol's excellent post about forum login issues with web proxies: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=22462295&sid=1

Other possible causes of login problems are
  • temporary login server hiccups; these happen from time to time, but are generally short-lived. Please try again in a few hours.
  • password or account update; when reactivating your account or changing password, this may take a while to register on the forums. Please try again a few hours after such updates.
  • corrupt browser cookie; the cookie(s) for forums.wow-europe.com may need to be deleted.
MS Internet Explorer: Tools menu --> Internet Options --> General Tab --> Delete Cookies
Firefox: Tools menu --> Options --> Privacy tab --> Show cookies
  • synchronization error (saying account is inactive) with the game database related to the Battle.net update on March 20th 2009, reporting "Your account is inactive" or "The account you are logged in with is not able to post on this forum". You may be able to correct this by updating your account data, e.g. changing subscription plan (and then changing back to your preferred one).

If none of the above (including Legorol's thread) seems to be what applies in your case, please contact us through the community web form: https://www.wow-europe.com/community/webform/index.html (category: Forums). While we can't guarantee it's something we can fix, we'll investigate and see whether we're able to assist in any way. And please make sure to point out that you've already tried the things listed here, as our first step would be to refer you here. ;)
