Concern for Dying PvP Realm: Kor'gall

I have been in Kor’gall from the time the server first came up in 2005. Kor'gall is a pvp server and consisted of hardcore pvpers and has always been very active in basis of pvp... until recently ... more accurately until the cross battleground system and Nightfall battlegroup. I am now very concerned about the lifeline of this place, because all I see nowadays are good pvpers and good players from this realm transferring to other battlegroup servers because Kor’gall simply fails to provide the pvp action in world/arena/battlegrounds that it once had.
1) First it was being grouped with a very young server which consisted of a player base that only just hit 60 versus the T2 – t3 / GM geared pvpers from Kor’gall. The fun factor in pvp started to go away; I mean who would gear themselves up, to end up having to steamroll worse geared players over and over? Many good raiding guilds as well as pvp guilds migrated due to the state of pvp on the server. This made life only worse for the remaining players.
2) Once TBC hit, the introduction of arenas meant that fewer people went to battlegrounds, however the pvp player base had by then become so small that in a typical weekday you have 1-2 AB/Wsg. 2 AV, and 0 EoTS. On bg weekends however, there are about 7 of the bonus honour battleground up, however making premades is impossible due to the matchmaking system, which forces the raid into a queue of 27 mins, although 7 -8 battleground are running. Collecting honour on my realm now has become impossibly hard. There are no horde premades, and any attempt at making an alliance premade turns to disaster once the queue length is seen/ or fighting randoms over and over means the members leave out of boredom.
3) You can argue, oh there are arenas here, but unfortunately that is dead too. There are barely any teams that play regularly, every time you arena u meet the same thing over and over and over and over. There is no variety. And then you get to a point where there are no teams high enough rating to give u any rating, because pvp in both battleground and arena form is almost dead.

The result has been mass migration in the last couple of months. Many players, both Kor’gall hordes and allies have left for other, more pvp-alive battle groups, after all what is a pvp server without pvp? People are talking about migration all over, everywhere I look people are bored, annoyed because one big pastime in wow for them has simply fallen over and died on this server. Of course, the word World pvp doesn’t even exist anymore on our server so I didn’t even bother mentioning it earlier. So now the population is getting lower and lower every day, and the amount of REAL players, i.e. not the farm bots and ebayers, is dwindling. When I /who an outland area at any given time of the day there are no more than 22 people. Guilds are finding it hard to recruit players and the only way to get decent players is to scavenge of other guilds, this has even happened to the very best guilds on our server, which tells u the extent of the problems. There are no new faces, no people making characters on this realm. The atmosphere is terrible. All you have left are nostalgic threads like
“World PVP... A dead memory..”http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=296660103&sid=1

“We Wont leave KORGALL ! http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=298900557&sid=1

And of course the massive amount of goodbye Kor’gall threads that keep popping up on official forums, guild forums, unofficial korgall forums etc.

My question now is:
a) Is blizzard even aware of this issue?
b) Will they do something about it? Or just let the once great pvp realm just die?
c) Is there any possibility Kor’gall will be moved into a more pvp minded battlegroup?
d) Is there any possibility of a server merge to fix this population problem? Or even open migration into our realm? I mean it’s simply too empty.
I, of course, care for my first and only realm, therefore, I ask, is the only choice I have now to migrate too?

a) Yes, but keep in mind that this is not only Kor'gall. As an example, look up the concerns for the Ruin Battlegroup.
b) Kor'gall is not among the very lowest populated realms, thus it doesn't receive the Recommended tag, nor is it up for free migration. Also, see c below. While Kor'gall have its player concerns we will always attempt to address those in most need first, and those in less need after.
c) Moving a single realm by request? No. Merging of whole Battlegroups? Possible. But again, Kor'gall is not in the smallest Battlegroup. We'll update everybody as soon as there's news on this topic.
d) See b.

Q u o t e:
the realm population, how u do guys count that? number of accounts or number of players, or number of active players on during the night on like a cacti graph or sumin?

Concurrency, i.e. the average and peak number of players online throughout the day/week.

Q u o t e:
a blue post saying merging battlegroups would be possible?! I've suggested this before, so I'll say it again: merge nightfall with ruin. that would solve two problems at once :) pretty please, with sugar on top <3

That it's possible doesn't mean there are absolutely no restrictions or difficulties with it. "Please" doesn't affect those restrictions either. Sorry. ;)

Q u o t e:
Speaking of which, it's pretty disingenuous of you to imply that the sole problem with the Battlegroup is the low number of servers overall. The type of server in a Battlegroup is also an issue, at least for those who are concerned with the quality of the BG/Arena fights available, and not just the number. And as has been pointed out before, even if we merged with Ruin, the new Battlegroup would STILL be in the bottom bracket for the number of PVP servers.

A very important point and something I admit I forgot to mention in my post. It is however something we're very aware of, and will also keep in mind should the merging of Battlegroups be a possibility and also present the flexibility to give a choice in what groups to merge. Still, this is very uncertain at the moment, so please don't take this as word that something will happen.
