Character stolen
by Frenzi | 11/05/2007 15:51:54![]() Recently one of our tanks had their account accessed by someone unknown but rather than stripping the character and sending all their gold to some other character they created a new account with his details and transferred the character to that account. The character then was presumably ebayed and the person who bought it has migrated the character to a new server. Our tank has petitioned several GM's asking for the character to be returned to the correct account and server but hasn't received anything like an acceptable response. He needs to get the CD Key to verify his account and is currently away so no action has been taken yet on his part but what has been said to him is that even if it was proven stolen the character cannot be returned to the original server until the three month cooldown has has passed. I really don't see how this is acceptable? If my character had the same thing happen I would just quit the game. Both himself and our guild have spent alot of time and effort gearing him up and because some hackers do something a bit different we get punished for it. The character in question is a warrior called Strongcut who used to be on Vek'nilash in the guild called Eternal Corpse Council, the character is now on Stormscale using the same name. People in my guild have actually gone to such lenghts now that we know who is playing it, we know his phone number and we know where he lives. Maybe Blizz could show a little bit of that resourcefulness and return the character to where it belongs. by Issuntril | 11/05/2007 19:44:46![]() Hi Frenzi, I would like to clarify our stance on this issue for you. We may be able to reverse a Paid Character Transfer that thas been completed while the account is not under the owner's control. However, this is not an issue the Game Master team can assist with at all, as all Paid Character Transfer problems are handled by our Account and Billing team. I would advise that your friend contacts them for further advice with this issue. He can find their contact details at: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/support/accountbilling.html Best of luck! by Issuntril | 14/05/2007 18:39:25![]() Hi Giskler, While I am unaware of the particulars for your friend's case, I am sure he was denied assistance with good reason. You should take into consideration that in order for a character to be transferred using the Paid Character Transfer system, it is required that the secret question for both accounts is known. I'm afraid sometimes players need to accept responsibility for any losses incurred as a result of insufficient account security. If your friend is unhappy with the response he has received, then he can Email his complaint to us at WoWconcernsEU@blizzard.com and we will look into his concerns. Issuntril |
