[Bladefist] Open Horde Cagefight Tournament
by Irrealis | 29/06/2009 20:16:54![]() Greetings Bladefisters! It is not a very wellknown fact, but this realm is actually the place where the very first duel on a live WoW-realm was fought out (Proof? Sorry but got the screeny on a floppy!). Our very nice, old and resilient PVP-realm deserves some celebration of this absolute fact. This is why DOD invites all fellow Hordies to celebrate this absolute fact in a fitting event: The 1st Open Bladefist Horde Cagefight Tournament Fast facts summary: - Huge prizes! Show up on time, be a level 80 Hordy, ask for an invite, receive an invite and you are in! First come first serve. These prizes are sponsored by DOD. They might even rise higher if we feel like it. There will also be a few mystery prizes... *** Cagefight Rules: - 1vs1 using WoW’s duelfunction - Everything is allowed: # EVERYTHING that is in your spellbook # EVERY item you can think of # EVERY consumable you can get # EVERY buff that you are able to collect before the duel starts # post here with questions about rules, but don’t give your great ideas away, being smart wins fights too - Sudden death with a best out of 3 cagefights, the final (and possibly the match for the 3rd place) will be a best out of 5. The first round / few rounds will be matches of only one fight. Fight for your life! A fight is decided when the duelfunction reports the outcome, or when a player is too far away from the duel flagpole (that player loses, and yes you can enforce this by cc), or when the timer is up or when it ends in a tie. A tie gets a restart for that one fight. - Not following the Time-rules will be followed up by disqualification. Time-rules: - Once your match is made up (see Organisation of the Tournament) both contestants will start their duel within 10 seconds after 2 minutes have gone by. This means you have 2 minutes of time to check out your opponent, get your last buffs, dualspec, change gear / consumable, drink / eat, read up about PVP on mmo-champion or whatever. But both players must be on the designated spot (see Location) for the cagefight and out of stealth during these 2 minutes. - Maximum time for a cagefight is 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the fight will be decided by a roll / cointoss. So take your fate into your own hands, before the time is up! In addition, in a best of 3 situation a cagefight of 10 minutes will be followed by a cagefight of 5 minutes max. If that max is reached again in the second fight, and a third fight is needed, that third fight will be a 3 minutes max fight. - Between best-of-matches / restarts you have 90 seconds of time to prepare (dualspec / drink / eat / regather buffs). But you have to stay on the designated spot. Matches will not wait for your cooldowns, so use them wisely! As always referees / members of the crew have a final, but neutral, saying in unforeseen circumstances. Not following these decisions disqualifies you. *** Location: Considering our quite hostile relationship with the Alliance, there is always the possibility of a terrorist assault on our peaceful event. To counter this the location will be a secret for as long as possible. But I can tell you this: - It is not in front of the gates of Orgrimmar. - It is easily reachable for low-level friends and fans. - The spot where the duelflag has to stand is just a few yards by a few yards. So basically the ‘cage’ will be of the same size for every cagefight. Ow, and the fight will not be in a cage! - There will be one environmental feature that can get you out of LoS. You will like it! - There will be a few environmental features that cannot get you out of LoS, but you cannot move trough them (e.g. a tree, a rock). - There is also enough open space. - The amount of mobs is minimal. - There are some nice spots to view the tournament. *** Organization of the Tournament: The crew is made of volunteers and is not allowed to participate in the Tournament. Other DOD-members are allowed to participate (and no, they will not know the location earlier than you guys). On sunday the 5th of July we will start inviting contestants between 12.00 hours and 12:20 hours servertime. So be there at 12.00 hours! Where is there? We gather and group up in Orgrimmar at the spot where Onyxia’s head appears on a pole after a hand-in. Please only one char for the tournament per actual living human being, no more invites once the tournament has started. There will be at least two raids inviting people. The leader will be a crewmember. At 12:20 the location will be made known to the contestants and all Horde (so the public knows where to go). At 12:25 we will be at the tournament location and then everyone has 15 minutes of time to get to know the area / do some trainingduels. The leader of each raid will raidroll and the corresponding contestant will be announced and kicked out of the raid. If there is an AFK or DC at that particular moment: You have forfeited your fight. Once you are kicked out, you move immediately to the designated spot where a referee will be waiting. The first two minutes will start. From there on we follow the rules mentioned above. It doesn’t matter who selects the duelfunction, but one of the two cagefighters will have to do it within 10 seconds after the two-minutes-have-ended-announcement from the referee. This will go on until the round is over. Matchwinners get invited into the winnerraids. If the crew did their job well we will have two mainraids with a combined maximum of 64 players. Leaders start to roll again and so on and so on. When only four cagefighters are left, they will fight the semi-finals and then a best out of five final and a losers-final. Depending on the time the losers-final might be a best of three rounds. Depending on the amount of contestants, several fights will be started along each other. We have made schedules for different amounts of contestants that define which rounds will have how many simultanious matches and if there will be a best of 1, 3 or 5. I wont bother you here with them, just know that the more important matches will have a higher ‘best of’ number and lesser simultanious matches. All schedules aim for an event that will last for about 5 hours. As you might have realized by now, it helps to bring many friends who will buff you when going into a fight. That’s cagefight rules. Make use of them if you like and can. Meanwhile this should increase the crowd. Our crew wont be too shabby about throwing some buffs to people who ask for it in a nice way. We might even do it without asking. Still question this approach? It’s a MMO, players are supposed to work together, even in 1vs1’s! *** Additional events: - A try for the unofficial world record ingame group basejump (we will have Slowfall and Levitate ready for you!). This is planned just before the fight for the 3rd place and the FINAL! - With so many PVP-fans gathered there is only one way this tournament can end. Totally unrelated confession: I love occupying Alliance Auction Houses! Maybe we can create a special treatment for the tournament winner(s). How does having three pockethealers sound to you? - Maybe we have more stuff planned...Maybe u guys can create some fun too…don’t forget to bring ur best fun items (Train sets not allowed, but tolerated!). *** Help us to make this a fun event! Spread the word! We will try to have some frapsers there, but if you can and like to fraps, please do so! If there are any questions we have left unanswered in the above, please post here so we can clarify. “I am so gonna be there!”-posts are appreciated. See you all Sunday the 5th of July 12.00 hours in Orgrimmar! Greetings, DOD Blizzards official statement on the Allied faction: Working as intended. |
