[ARMORY] - Racist Names on there a solution.
by Nihung | 08/05/2008 09:01:01![]() I did a search of the Armoury: http://eu.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=wog&searchType=all - very bad tearm used to describe non white people in the UK. http://eu.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=paki&searchType=all - extremly offensive and racist term used to describe people from Pakistan and India. http://eu.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=n i g g e r&searchType=all - N*gg*r extremly offensive term used to describe black people. http://eu.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=gollywog&searchType =all - extremly offensice term used to describe black people. http://eu.wowarmory.com/search.xml?searchQuery=gollywogs&searchTyp e=all - plural of offensive term used to describe black people. Now anyone with half a brain cell can see these are racist. Given that my friend was banned for being the leader of a Guild called Naga Pls because it was deemed racist why are such blatantly racist and offensive names allowed? NB - I suggest you act fast guys to avoid any bad publicity. by Daliniya | 09/05/2008 08:41:20![]() Please report all such names to the Game Masters using the in-game ticketing system on the realm on which you have found guild or character names that violate our Naming Policy. The web team is, unfortunately, unable to assist with changing names that violate our policies as we do not have access to the tools required to do this. For more information on how to petition a GM, check out our Game Master's information page here: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/support/gamemasters.html Thanks! Dalin iya |
by Issuntril | 12/05/2008 09:13:43![]() Hi Nihung, Daliniya has moved your thread to the in-game customer support forums so that we can give you a clear answer on our policies. While we do have a naming policy in place which specifically forbids players from creating characters with names that have racist connotations (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/policy/namingp1.html), this is not something which is actively monitored by the Game Master team - as with any harassment issue, we rely on vigilant members of our community to report such matters to us so that they can be investigated. Having looked into the details of the ticket you have sent, I can see that you were sent a reply asking for additional information, rather than been redirected to the forums. The reason for this was that when dealing with a naming report it is very important that we are supplied with the name and realm of each character which is in violation of our policies so that we can properly process the report. Please submit a new ticket to us in-game with the above information, and we will happily investigate your complaints and take appropriate action in accordance with our naming policies. Issuntril |
by Issuntril | 12/05/2008 10:58:21![]() If you have noticed these names, then it is a certainty that players on the realms of the characters have noticed them also. We receive hundreds of naming reports every day, and all of them are investigated and dealt with in accordance with the policy I have linked. Issuntril |
