Appeal against ban?

Hello.

I'm posting this in general discussion because I don't know if it should be in any other fourm, so here goes.

Two of my friends were given permanent bans from the forums a while ago for apparently participating in a "Spam Campaign."

This "Spam Campaign" consisted of people making threads in the off-topic section (which is, as the title suggests, off-topic) titled "Ask <insert random thing>".

Many of these threads filled up the front page of the off-topic section, causing no one any harm is it was only a bit of harmless fun that all started with a couple of people making threads called "Ask an American" or "Ask an Islamic".

My two friends saw this and, unknowing that it would be classed as spam and therefore lead to their bans, decided it would be a laugh to each create a thread of their own along the same lines, seeing how other people were doing it and it was the off-topic forum, so it wasn't exactly known for it's constructiveness.

The day after the threads had been made they both recieved emails from blizzard saying that their accounts had been permanently banned. All of the threads in the off-topic titled "Ask <such and such>" were deleted, and I am assuming all others involved in creating such threads had also been banned.

I am writing this as I would like to know if there is any way for my two friends to appeal against their bans, as they only did it as a bit of harmless fun and it didn't exactly hurt anybody.

They are both heavy RP'ers and that was the main reason that they used the forums, to organize in-game events and contact other RP'ers etc.

So, is there any way for my friends to appeal against they're bans, or should they smply resign themselves to not being able even to use the Realm Forums to contact others for in-game reasons?

They both think that this is an incredibly unfair ban, and at first they decided to just ignore it, but they have found it increasingly harder and harder to be a part of RP without access to posting on forums.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.
