Account bound to a Blizzard account

I'm posting on behalf of my brother who got his account hacked.

He received an e-mail to his address reporting the merging of his WoW account to a battle.net account, which must have been done by the person now controlling his account.

When we tried the "retrieve password" function, we got an error stating "You cannot reset the password for this account because it is bound to a Blizzard Account."

Any idea what this means. We also did make an in-game ticket about the hack and were promised an e-mail... still waiting on that (been 15hours atm).

The most annoying thing is that someone is playing my brothers characters at the moment.

The e-mail address we've been checking is the one where the notification of the merge was received.

The thing I'm wondering is mostly about the Blizzard account part. The account sure isn't suspended for investigation, because the bastard is online as I speak (type) and I doubt that it was hijacked by a Blizzard employee :)

Hi Faithnomore,

We can't comment too heavily on your brother's account investigation as it's not your account despite your claims of family ties, but what we can say is that our Game Security department have been in touch with him by email, so he should check his registered account email and provide the information Game Security have asked him for. They'll be able to help once they receive it. Please ask him to make absolutely sure his PC is clean of viruses and keyloggers as well.

Best of luck to both of you!
