To address faction imbalance issues on PvP realm Magtheridon, Free Character Migration is available for (only) Alliance players from a number of PvE realms. The migration will be available from January 14th to 20th.

Alliance from the following PvE realms may move to Magtheridon for free:
Aszune
Emerald Dream
Runetotem
Shadowsong
Silvermoon

Additional PvE realms may have the same opportunity later should we feel more Alliance players are needed on Magtheridon.

In the event that we meet our transfer goals before the scheduled end date, transfers may be disabled without prior notice. No additional characters will be eligible for these free moves once the transfers have been closed.

good idea but it seems a lot of people won't migrate as there will still be way more horde meaning the ally who migrate will just suffer unless a lot of people leave their servers.

We have every intention of making sure the end result is an acceptable faction balance. Of course, some will need to make the first step - we can't force people onto the realm - and then others should hopefully follow. :)

With how populations sometimes fluctuate it's hard to predict whether a realm may hit queues again or not, but we of course try to avoid such when opening migrations.

Naturally, if more Horde players would take the offer of moving away from Magtheridon for free, that would help to ease everybody's mind. Additional destination realms for Magtheridon Horde players might be an incentive we'd consider to achieve that.

While this Alliance-only transfer to Magtheridon is a welcome gesture, I don't think it will have much effect. The server is so crammed with jerks now that I kinda doubt that many Alliance players will be motivated to move here, regardless of how many servers are offered free migration to Mag.

Luckily we do see quite a few people moving characters, so hopefully that will encourage others to do so too - and stay active. We don't think a 1:1 ratio is realistic (but one can hope!), but every improvement is a good thing. :)
